Refund Policy
US Customers.

Effective Date: September 2026

The Antique Cabinet provides specialized digital and professional services related to art and antiques, including identification, appraisal, valuation, provenance research, attribution research, authentication-related analysis, collection research, and customized digital reports.

Because our services are primarily personalized and require professional research and analysis specifically performed for each client and object, refunds and cancellations are governed by the following policy.

1. Scope

This Refund & Cancellation Policy applies to purchases made through The Antique Cabinet website and other authorized sales channels for:

  • Art and antique identification services;

  • Fair Market Value (FMV) and Replacement Value appraisals;

  • Preliminary authenticity assessments;

  • Provenance and ownership-history research;

  • Artist, maker, manufacturer, and attribution research;

  • Technical and appraisal reports;

  • Collection and inventory research;

  • Customized research services;

  • Digital reports, certificates, and other personalized deliverables; and

  • Subscription or recurring digital service plans, when offered.

2. Cancellation Before Work Begins

A customer may request cancellation of an individual professional service before The Antique Cabinet has begun substantive research, analysis, appraisal, or preparation of the customized deliverable.

If the cancellation request is approved before work has begun, the customer will receive a full refund of the amount paid for the cancelled service.

Payment-processing fees that are non-refundable to The Antique Cabinet may be deducted where permitted by applicable law.

3. Customized Professional Services

Most services provided by The Antique Cabinet are customized specifically for the customer and the object or collection submitted for analysis.

Once substantive professional work has begun, including examination of submitted materials, market research, comparable-sales research, provenance research, attribution research, database consultation, preparation of an appraisal, or preparation of a report, the service is considered in progress.

Because professional time and resources have already been committed to the customer's individual project, payments for services already in progress are generally non-refundable, except where otherwise required by applicable law.

4. Completed Services and Digital Deliverables

Once a customized professional service has been substantially completed or its digital report, appraisal, research result, certificate, or other personalized deliverable has been delivered to the customer, the sale is generally considered final and non-refundable, except where required by applicable law or where The Antique Cabinet determines that the service was not delivered as agreed.

Digital products or reports that have been downloaded, accessed, delivered, or otherwise made available to the customer are generally not eligible for return.

5. Professional Conclusions Are Not Guaranteed Outcomes

Purchasing an appraisal, identification, attribution, provenance research, or authentication-related service does not guarantee a particular conclusion.

A customer's disagreement with the professional conclusion of a report does not, by itself, constitute grounds for a refund.

For example, a refund will not ordinarily be granted solely because:

  • An item's estimated market value is lower than expected;

  • Available evidence does not support the expected artist or maker;

  • An attribution cannot be confirmed;

  • Authenticity cannot be established from the available evidence;

  • Additional physical examination or laboratory testing is recommended;

  • Provenance cannot be fully reconstructed; or

  • The item does not achieve the commercial or auction result anticipated by the customer.

The Antique Cabinet's conclusions are professional opinions based upon the photographs, documents, provenance information, market data, scholarly sources, databases, comparable transactions, and other evidence reasonably available at the time of the analysis.

6. Errors or Material Deficiencies

If a delivered report contains a material factual, clerical, or technical error attributable to The Antique Cabinet, the customer should contact us promptly.

After review, The Antique Cabinet may, as appropriate:

  • Correct or revise the report;

  • Provide additional clarification or research;

  • Re-perform the affected portion of the service; or

  • Issue a partial or full refund when warranted.

Minor typographical errors or disagreements with professional judgment do not automatically entitle the customer to a refund.

7. Duplicate or Unauthorized Charges

If a customer is charged more than once for the same transaction because of a processing error, The Antique Cabinet will refund the duplicate charge after verification.

Customers who believe a payment was made without their authorization should contact The Antique Cabinet and their payment provider promptly.

Nothing in this Policy limits rights available to consumers under applicable federal or state laws governing unauthorized transactions or billing disputes.

8. Customer-Supplied Information

The accuracy and scope of our analysis may depend upon photographs, measurements, provenance information, documentation, ownership history, inscriptions, signatures, condition information, or other materials supplied by the customer.

The customer is responsible for providing accurate and reasonably complete information.

If the requested service cannot be completed because the customer fails to provide materials reasonably required for the analysis, The Antique Cabinet may suspend the project.

Any refund in such circumstances will depend upon the amount of professional work already performed and applicable law.

9. Subscriptions and Recurring Plans

If The Antique Cabinet offers subscription-based or automatically renewing services, the renewal terms, billing frequency, price, and cancellation conditions will be disclosed to the customer before enrollment.

Where required by applicable law, customers will be asked to affirmatively consent to automatic renewal or recurring billing.

Customers may cancel future renewals through the cancellation method provided with the subscription or through the customer service channels identified by The Antique Cabinet.

Cancellation prevents future renewal charges but does not ordinarily generate a retroactive refund for a billing period that has already begun, unless otherwise stated or required by applicable law.

Where state law requires additional renewal notices, reminders, online cancellation options, or other consumer protections, The Antique Cabinet will apply those requirements to eligible customers.

10. Refund Processing

Approved refunds will normally be returned to the original payment method.

Processing times may vary depending on the customer's bank, credit card issuer, payment processor, and other financial institutions.

Once The Antique Cabinet has properly submitted an approved refund to the payment processor, additional processing time imposed by the customer's financial institution is outside The Antique Cabinet's control.

11. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes

Customers are encouraged to contact The Antique Cabinet before initiating a chargeback so that we have an opportunity to investigate and resolve the issue.

This provision does not waive, restrict, or interfere with any right the customer may have under applicable federal or state law to dispute an unauthorized or improper transaction with a bank, credit card issuer, or payment provider.

12. No General Federal Cooling-Off Period for Online Purchases

Customers should be aware that United States federal law does not generally provide a universal cooling-off or cancellation period for purchases completed entirely online.

Certain transactions, products, services, or jurisdictions may nevertheless provide specific cancellation or refund rights.

Nothing in this Policy is intended to waive or restrict any consumer protection that cannot legally be waived.

13. State Consumer Protection Laws

Consumer protection requirements may vary among U.S. states.

This Policy is intended to operate together with applicable federal and state consumer protection laws.

If applicable law provides a consumer with rights greater than those stated in this Policy, those mandatory legal rights will apply.

Nothing in this Policy shall be interpreted as excluding, limiting, or waiving any statutory consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded, limited, or waived.

14. How to Request a Cancellation or Refund

Requests should be submitted through the official contact information provided on The Antique Cabinet website.

Please include:

  • Your full name;

  • Order or transaction number, if available;

  • Date of purchase;

  • Service purchased; and

  • Reason for the request.

We may request additional information reasonably necessary to locate the transaction and evaluate the request.

15. Changes to This Policy

The Antique Cabinet may modify this Refund & Cancellation Policy from time to time to reflect changes to its services, business practices, payment systems, or applicable laws.

Changes will become effective when the revised Policy is published on our website, unless otherwise required by law.

Changes will not retroactively reduce rights that applied to a transaction when it was completed.
